OP. I appreciate all the responses. I have gotten really good feedback and I will try to answer as many of the questions and comments that I have received. I'll start with this one. It is a simply as we grew apart over time. But I think it's more complicated than that. Things started falling apart when our teenage son became really difficult to manage. Parents and non parents here can certainly relate with that struggle. We had diverging views on how to address his issues. During the same period DW lost her job and my dad passed away as well adding to an already stressful environment. Therapy did help but we waited too long. Because we married so long we thought we didn't need couple therapy since we managed everything ourselves. Big mistake. Even if your marriage is great go to couple counseling early even if everything is going well in your marriage. We got to the point where we stopped talking to each other and it was painful because we were everything to each other. Eventually DW broke the news to me that she needed to find herself and asked for divorce.
