I love my DH and also like him. I’m taking the kids for the day so he can workout, do his hobby and relax. Then me and the kids will make a nice dinner for him.

Pretty low key but that is what he requested. The kids also made him cards and some little crafts at school.

We are empty nesters! He has been incredibly busy and all he will want to do is crash on the couch and watch the final round of the US Open. We will have a casual dinner watching the end and I’m hopeful that we will have fun later in the evening.

Wife told me I have the kids all day because I'm the father. She plans on going out and doing her own thing. She doesn't think there is an issue in our marriage and would tell me I'm selfish if I wanted anything.

But he would, truthfully, be 100% happy to have nothing at all. We're only doing the brunch because my dad is in town.

He's driving the kids 4 hours each way to drop them off at sleepaway camp while I stay at home. I have something planned for us the following week while the kids are gone, the timing just ended up that camp drop off was on Father's Day so he'll be in the car for at least 8 hours plus a lunch stop plus cabin set up. I offered to do it but I'm doing pick up because he can't so he insisted. Fine with me!

A card and making whatever he wants for dinner

I bought Nats tickets for the 3 of us. My son played little league for the first time this year and is now really into it and my husband is having a great time explaining all the different rules and strategies to him.

I'm pre-making a really nice dinner and dessert today. I am working this weekend. The kids wanted to buy him a record for his collection so I purchased said record. That's it!

We’re going out to dinner on Saturday night to his favorite restaurant. Cards, homemade gifts, and his favorite candy on the morning of.

Honestly, this thread made me check the date and realize it's this coming Sunday!

We just did a weekend trip a flight away, and are going away for five days next week, so with this weekend in between, Father's Day was not on the radar. Makes a difference that our kid is young adult. I'll remind her that Sunday is Father's Day and I know she'll make a card and maybe we'll make a meal he likes, but we'll all mostly be chill. In fact today was our wedding anniversary and the only gifts were takeout we ate in a park, which was great. The trips are our "gifts" for all these things like anniversary and Father's and Mother's Days.

I guess the upshot here is: If you're in your earlier years of marriage and/or have younger kids -- the whole Mother's Day-Father's Day-Anniversary-Valentine's etc. thing gets greatly mellowed over time, so look forward to that. We mark these days, but we just don't worry about physical gifts or having to do something elaborate (or even simple) ON the actual day.
