That’s actually what has been happening. DC working with MD based groups to move the migrants to MD and out of the city.
Yes, our government has been asking for them and getting them, and now we are having trouble paying for them.
Here's a good overview from last year

A bit misleading. MoCo is not accepting all transfers from DC.
From that memo:
Nuclear families with children who entered the U.S. after April 2022 and
can validate their A-number (asylum/alien) are submitted for eligibility determination to the DC
Office of Migrant Services. Single men and women are directly directed to shelters in DC, while
extended families (including, for example, grandparents, aunts, and children over 24 years old)
are referred to the Montgomery County Respite Center to prevent family separation.
Also, these folks coming to MoCo have their A number, which I assume, means that they had their cases heard by a judge.
You can get into the weeds all you want, but what is undeniably true is that DC is trying to pull a TX and bus the migrants to MD.
? I didn't deny that, but it's families and children only, not all.
DC are trying to send all. Montgomery County is only agreeing to accept families with children.

That is because whatever they encounter on their trip to the border and whatever they encounter once they get there or into the US is not worse than the life they are trying to leave. People in the US who don't understand this and appear to think they are coming here to ruin our lives are very ignorant and entitled.
I do understand their lives suck down there. That does not mean they get to break the law to come here.
Simple concept. Not so simple if it's you and your family, children, who are suffering and in danger. Hardly anybody in the US knows what that is like. What would you do if it were you? Wait around for years or maybe never for a legal chance at a better life?

Anonymous wrote:Was thinking about this earlier today and was wondering why Texas and Florida have only sent bus loads of migrants to DC, and not to Montgomery County.
Montgomery is exactly the kind of place Texas and Florida SHOULD be sending them. There’s a well-funded array of social services to handle the needs of newly arrived migrants. The population is overwhelmingly progressive and would welcome more immigrant POC with open arms. County taxpayers would willingly pay higher taxes for programs that served new arrivals, and would similarly approve of zoning changes to allow more subletting of domiciles and higher density housing.
How does one get in touch with the state government officials in TX and FL who are involved in relocating migrants? Because I would want them to start sending busses here rather than DC. We are much better equipped to serve them than DC.

I’m a single person. I don’t have the resources of a county. But the county I live in has plenty of those resources, and more importantly, can afford more. And the tax base will support it.
So let’s bring them here. We can handle the burden.

Deport all of them. People using children as an excuse to break immigration laws and take advantage of US taxpayers. They also need to do mandatory genetic testing to see if people are lying about their connections to people. Ifr they are lying they should get a permanent ban from immigrating to the US.
