NP- The pens are a bit of a gimmick. Syringes are easy to use and so cheap.

See, I didn't know that the shortage is just due to the pens. That's so stupid. I thought it was the underlying ingredient.

This makes me want to get the compounded meds.

You should! There’s all these noisy people on DCUM calling people selfish for using semaglutides, but they have no idea what they’re talking about. If you’re willing to give yourself a shot, these drugs are extremely easy to find.

I can't believe there are still morons in 2024 that think carbs or rice make people gain weight. It's like they're permanently stunted in 2001.

NP I lost 40 lbs in a couple of months once while eating mostly just rice, bananas and occasionally some other stuff but nothing bad for me. I was going through some stress that completely took away my appetite and I barely even wanted to eat the rice. I kept that weight off for awhile but it eventually came back. I have never had that experience of completely losing my appetite and interest in food before or since then. I wish I knew how to make it happen.

When I was a poor college student and living in a sublet for summer session. The student in the space before me had left a bag of potato’s and a sack of onions. Every day I ate fried potato’s and onions, with ketchup, there was a half empty bottle in the fridge.

I lost about 20lbs which was a lot on my frame. I looked malnourished because I was. Plenty of really thin people in the world subsist on nothing but carbs, and they are tiny.

I can attest to the fried onions and potato diet.

Yeah, just look at all of the obese people in Asia.

Tell that to the two-thirds of Americans who are overweight or obese. I guess they're all bad at math.

They are overweight or obese because they are consuming too many calories. There are exceptions to this of course like medications causing weight gain.

Cut the calories and lose the weight. Most people don’t have the willpower to do this.

Well you've got that solved! What's the address so we can send the Nobel Prize?

I've been on medication since I was 14 for a brain injury. The medication makes me fat. I eat healthy, never more than 1400 calories and run 3-5 miles a week. This is not a calories in/calories out situation - some people have issues.

But, since you want to discuss simple math - if x people are fat, and y people are insulting those people - which people are the a-holes?

So if you take weight loss drugs, what are you thinking they will do for you? (Since you barely eat as it is?)

What will likely happen is that she will be full with 800-1000 calories a day and not feel deprived at all, and lose weight. The great thing with the meds is you can try them for 3-6 months and see how it goes. If one doesn’t work, try another. And new ones will be coming out in the next few years.

NP but a lot of us did that back then. Remember when fat-free everything was all the rage?

I lived on plain baked potatoes and veggie subs with mustard from Subway. I thought that was the way to be healthy.

Yes. This was in 1988. Fat-free was al the rage. Paleo was not a thing.

No it's not.

As a 62 year old female who is only 4' 10" with genetics like crazy for diabetes losing weight is not just not eating and exercise.
That does not move the needle.

I just tried metformin it made me very sick so I stopped. But I am 40 lbs over weight and i have tried everything nothing works. It sucks. I know others are struggling way more than 40 lbs so I should not complain.

My doctor would not prescribe ozempric and I am miserable.

Use one of the online services that work with insurance: The doctors there only consult for this and will give you a prescription because you so clearly qualify!

Do you have any names of reputable online services?

Orderlymeds is the best I've found. I took my first shot last night.

I’m the PP that asked, thank you!

Yes, I do it and it's very easy. The pen is completely unnecessary.

Yes. Thats what the online services that use compounded medication have you do. They’ve worked well for me and millions of others. Probably most of Hollywood is doing this because they surely don’t qualify for official Ozempic.
