My husband POLITELY DECLINED an overt invitation to belong to a really nice club in this area, OP, if it makes you feel better. He was pressured, members said they've vouch for him, etc, etc. But those things aren't his vibe.

Oh well. I don't really care either way, but I'd have used the pool in the summer...
