Um... Virginia has VT for STEM. And VT is also great for the humanities. Why would they need to move to MD?
Yes, but that's 3rd rate by comparison. VT CS is around 40th in the US, whereas MD is top 20.

The question was whether you need higher stats from FCPS than from DCPS.
The answer is FCPS is in VA and DCPS is OOS. VA is easier. OOS is harder.

Partly this is due to size. UVA Engineering is smaller than a lot of other in-state options.
Their focus seems to be on quality not quantity, but if you like large engineering schools, MD is stronger than any VA school and larger.

I am curious about this too. I suspect Jackson-Reed since NOVA is so competitive and UVA is in state for them.

UVA Engineering SATs were always about 100 points above the school average. Engineering admission @UVA is much harder.
