Not at ours. We didn’t hear back either way so I assume they aren’t interested

They offered a friend a spot on the 15u regional team. I don't think he was their first choice though and he also declined.

There's a combined 14/15u team.

There’s Arlington United 14U/15U JV and Arlington United 14U (Regional).

Probably not enough players since it’s the inaugural year. They aren’t very competitive I don’t think. Most 13/14u kids were already settled in their teams.

They are trying to get them ready for high school ball, so their standards are very high compared to where we came from. They played 3 or 4 tournaments so far, but local ish. Only 1 requiring a hotel. Single games or DH on Sundays, single game Wednesday nights. Practice 2x a week.
The 13u team is their rockstar team, and they play more tournaments. I can’t imagine they would be doing tryouts for that team. I am not sure what teams they are doing tryouts for, but maybe the 13u C level team and the 14/15u combined team which is B level.
So far the practices have been in arlington as promised. They play in nvtbl so a lot of games are in Fairfax county (patriot park, centerville, Chantilly, Lorton with some in south Arlignton).

Where did you guys come from for 13u? I’ve heard not so great things from other parents who were previously at ignite or prime time.

About 60% of the team came from those two teams, the rest mostly from ATB. I have not ever heard anyone say anything other than that they are thrilled with the program. Do you mean you’ve heard not great things about ignite and primetime for 13u? That I can agree with.

No, they were parents on the 14u and 15u teams who came over from ignite and prime time so the practices would be more convenient. I’m guessing that they wouldn’t express displeasure with a program to other parents with kids on the same team! Either way I’m glad you are having a good experience! My son is 12u and though we have had a mixed experience with his current organization (which presumably feeds into United), he really wants to play for Arlington United.

Assume you mean storm or ATB. I think AU is very well run, and I’m not really sure what a better option would be for a 13u unless your kid is a prospect. Some people went to stars, but then you are always driving out to Fairfax. If he’s just a normal good player then it’s a great option. If he’s a bottom player on one of those 2 A teams, then he probably won’t make the regional 13u team unless he’s 6’ 180 lbs. Most of the other options around here are not going to be top level of play.

Arlington United is not associated with the county and also doesn’t “have fields” All of these teams have an outdoor practice at least once a week. We are at primetime and have practiced at an Arlington or Alexandria field in the area.

I know. I’m saying once a week on a field isn’t enough imo.

The email said to add players as needed so maybe there isn’t a need now but they are looking ahead? Or some kids are moving. FWIW everyone I know who tried out made it on one of the teams (13U)

Prime time is having their kids try out for the spring season. Perhaps they’re hoping a few of those kids will deflect.

Does Primetime usually hold tryouts in the fall?

Yes and United does 2 outdoor.

We know many players on the United and Primetime (x2) teams. No one is 1000% happy on primetime or United. These kids are trying to get ready for high school ball and going through puberty/growth. It’s a transition time. Parents have opinions based on their kids past performance while coaches are looking ahead to the future – making decisions that may not make sense for today’s game, but may make sense later on when these kids are bigger and more powerful. Also can’t ignore the fact that at one of these organizations paying for extra private lessons gives you an advantage….can’t say we haven’t benefited from that ourselves. For some of these Arlington families the convenience factor means they’re not going to leave their current team. Who wants to drive 45 minutes each way to a practice twice a week. And who really thought united would be perfect in their first year as an organization? You take the good with the bad.

I agree with this. These 15, 14u and 13u public school kids will be trying out for their JV teams in February. Most of the 14/13u kids won’t make it as 8th graders. The Wakefield and W&L kids have a better shot than the Yorktown ones. Some kids have gone through puberty, some haven’t. There is a huge range in size.
