Technically, the exams are “optional” but taking the AP Exam usually gets one exempted from the teacher’s final which, rumor has it, is invariably more difficult than the AP.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Couldn’t care less. It matters if the college allows the kid to skip an intro class if they get a good score on the exam. My senior cancelled all his AP exams except those.
My kid gets an F in the class if they don’t take the AP test. Your school lets them skip the actual AP test?
Our sophomore is taking first AP tomorrow. Has studied outside of class. Needs a 3+ to get the DE credit needed for their program. Luckily, there are alternatives if that doesn’t work out but that hasn’t changed the “stress” level.

My son thought it was not bad. He said as soon as he opened it and saw Shay's Rebellion, he felt good. The teacher spent a lot of time on that & the Commerce Clause, and both were on the test. He is more of a "4" student than a "5" student, but for his college all he needs is a 4 to get credit for this one.
Four more to go!

That will surely motivate teachers to go work at struggling schools with struggling students.
