Paywall -
Can someone gift it?

It’s the UK based Times, not NY Times. There isn’t a paywall for me.

Yeah, it’s in the article. I don’t understand why or how you could have an organic meat box business based on Instagram prairie ballet without a lot of money, so I don’t understand the “cosplay” critique. There are no subsistence organic meat box ballerinas.

They are out there. They are likely near you as well. They just don't have the same following or money to make it all look pretty enough to attract that many followers.

The best thing I can say about this article is it’s making me appreciate Taffy Brodesser Akner.

I agree, this is a lazy hit piece. I don’t like her, her farm, or her religion but you could write a story like this about almost anyone if you came in determined to do it. It’s transparent and unpersuasive.

This was really well done. The husband def comes off as a walking red flag. And she seems really unhappy. It’s sad

It reads to me as if the journalist had an agenda and was going to make whatever they observed/interviewed to fit that agenda.

And I am no fan of influencers or the lifestyle this family leads!

I remember she popped up on my Instagram feed and I thought it was weird and I just blocked it, so now it’s not bothering me. If you just don’t look at the social media, these people can just be on their own journey with themselves and their church community or whatever. Unless there’s abuse, it’s not really anyone’s business if you just don’t consume the media.

She iften pops up on my instagram and every time I am left wondering how she doesn’t spill food on the kid inevitably strapped to her front as she is cooking (including using hot items 👎🏻).

Definitely. "Still, Daniel says, Neeleman sometimes gets so ill from exhaustion that she can’t get out of bed for a week."

I mean, awesome you're a billionaire and can have 8 kids you apparently don't have to care for for a week when push comes to shove, but this is a total farce so miss me with the videos of acting like it's the easiest thing to wake up, get eggs, bake fresh bread, make your sauces, homeschool etc. This is totally a farce and even a wife of a billionaire is struggling with it.

Also, he's breeding her like a cow which is pretty gross regardless of how much money you have.

Yeah she does.

It's such a business
Online the Neelemans sell meat boxes from their cows and pigs as well as branded sourdough starters, rock salt, copper measuring cups and beeswax candles. They have three full-time employees on the farm, thirty at the warehouse, more than ten in the office, and a creative director who manages the website visuals.

I was thinking about this today. Nara smith is the one that gets under my skin. I realized that what freaks me out about her videos is that she has toddlers and babies and yet her house is so quiet, like a library, and no one is glued to her and constantly touching her. man, all I wanted when they were that age was peace and quiet and maybe an hour of nobody touching me. That’s the fantasy that she’s selling. It isn’t about wanting her clothes or her gorgeous body or her house. It’s just the silence and the bodily autonomy. That’s the whole dream.
