Care to explain it to us olds?
It's clear OP is NOT boosting Bethesda. Otherwise, I don't know why she's even bothering. Who cares what they do in Bethesda.
There was a trend on social media a few months ago where people posted videos saying "I'm ____, of course I do XYZ."
They were 1-2 minute long playful clips that either poked fun at certain groups or highlighted certain in-jokes. For example, "I'm a tourist. Of course I stand on the left of the escalator" or "I'm a Washingtonian. Of course, I leave town before The Fourth of July."
I really can't believe this has to be explained.
I don’t even use TikTok and I’ve seen that trend everywhere. It’s on IG, Fb, and YouTube! And stuff gets reposted to TwitterX! Do people just … not go on any kind of social media at all? Not even to look/watch and not post? And then they come on here and it’s all anonymous so we don’t know who’s living so far under a rock but giving thoughts and advice like they’re a normal person??? It’s honestly blowing my mind a bit and I need to sit down.

I never knew anyone like the people you're describing when I was living there. https://www.instagram.com/bethesdahistoryblog/Anonymous wrote:We're from Bethesda....
You're not from Bethesda if you don't know about its history. I grew up there and haven't been back since the 1980s. Here's a video featuring our Bethesda historian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phqoZhoCJdsAnonymous wrote:We're from Bethesda....

Anonymous wrote:What the heck? Was this posted by a drunk person who associates their own self loathing with living in Bethesda and feels jealous of women who wear Lululemon?
Anonymous wrote:I grew up in Bethesda (don’t live there now), but just recently went to that farmers market for the first time and it was great! There was a pet goat hanging out, live music, and you could play corn hole.

Anonymous wrote:I lived in Bethesda for a while (in an apartment, before kids) and I can vouch for the crazy drivers! It was worse than NYC in the downtown area. There were no chain stores yet (besides the Barnes and Noble, which is now gone). I loved it, but it’s very Upper East Side now - just not the same.
