I’m not sure driving is all that cheaper tho. And it’s so much more stressful than taking the train. With tolls, gas, and 45 to 75 dollars per night parking, driving to nyc isn’t cheap

+1 I know plenty of people who have gone to NYC for a day trip.
I regularly drive 6 hours each way to spend two nights with my parents. My in-laws routinely drive 4.5 hours each way to spend one night with us for kids events and they're 75!
I'm actually fascinated by what kind of life OP is living that 4 hours is a long drive.
