We have mostly weeds, like you. So we just mow it and it's all green and who cares? It looks like grass.

What infuriates me are the yards with the lush unfettered grass, gorgeous and so dark green- and we have so many in our mid range suburban enclave. It's a sign of extreme vanity and pointless selfishness, because to keep it that way it takes gobs of constant maniacal care, fertilizer, and herbicide poisoning everything- the animals, birds, us, and the Chesapeake
Bay. And for what? To have grass that looks like 1972 shag carpeting that no one uses anyway. Kids aren't running around swinging on swings, building forts, playing chase. They live on their screens.

It's all a ridiculous exercise in futility.

Natives and xeriscape terracing of pollinator-friendly flowers are what those who can afford it are doing now. It looks and smells amazing.

I’m in a new house that was sodded in 2020. Then resodded in 2022 because it burned. I did partial replacements in 2023. I have regular lawn maintenance by some expert.

My lawn is filled with weeds this year.He sprayed in March. It didn’t do anything. He said Montgomery County won’t allow real stuff so I have to live with weeds. I’m so frustrated. I’ll probably have to do some weed killer myself even though I don’t want chemicals. I have such a tiny area with grass (and huge backyard that has no grass) . I just want real grass.

They will tell you it takes years. I started with sod and a sprinkler system and experts and my lawn looks like crap four years later.

Adding to my own post to say that I was annoyed with my lawn today and typed this in a huff! Lots of typos too. I really don’t want cancer causing chemicals on my lawn so I’ll have to keep looking for options or resod.

Whatever the lawn guy uses is not working.

Maybe take a different approach?
