What did they expect? That restaurants would pay this wage and graciously not raise prices? Those jobs were never meant to provide a living wage. Just causes more inflation and those workers are right back to where they were. Let’s see how many of those workers come off social safety net programs with the higher wages. I’m betting very few. Why don’t democrats understand how capitalism works?
Teachers are quitting because they can make more money flipping hamburgers than trying to educate your stupid brats with the added plus of not having to deal with entitled parents.
Not in Fairfax County. They aren't making more money flipping burgers than teaching... not even close. Sorry about your BS.

This seems like the obvious solution to me. No one’s labor is worth 10s of millions a year. No one’s.
I agree but I’ll take that over what socialism would eventually do to this country.
Why do Republicans always run to hyperbole? OMG socialism!! If people can make a living wage, it’s socialism! We’re all gonna dieeeeee!!!!
A living wage flipping burgers and making fries. Really? Get real. With that logic you are overpaid for whatever you do.

You clearly have never run a business. They raised the employees’ wages and then raised their prices accordingly. Evidently, if your business, Panera Bread, is owned by a friend of the Governor then it’s ok to “treat people like they’re disposable”. Another shining example of Liberal hypocrisy.
What are the CEOs of these corporations making?

And don’t forget, Panera Bread is exempt from this new minimum wage law. Panera has 24 locations in California all owned by Gregg Flynn, Gavin Newsom’s friend and billionaire campaign donor. Why does Panera get a break and other FF chains don’t? Talk about corruption and crony capitalism. If minimum wage laws actually worked (they don’t) then they should apply to all these businesses not just the ones that aren’t owned by a friend of the Governor. What a joke.
No, right wing propaganda victim, it is not. https://la.eater.com/2024/3/1/24087062/california-fast-food-ab-1228-panera-minimum-wage-exception-gavin-newsom-bread
Did you actually read the article you pasted from your liberal source? Lots of “mays”, “coulds”, “shoulds” but nothing definitive. Newsom is backtracking because he got caught red-handed favoring his political donors. Besides, why should bakeries be exempt while other businesses aren’t? So Gov Hair Gel Newson doesn’t care about the poorly paid workers in bakeries? Also I didn’t think democrats liked Billionaires….what’s up with that? Another victim of left wing propaganda left in the dust.
Mays coulds and shoulds are evidently enough for you to parrot right wing propaganda so…

A tax code that doesn’t favor the wealthy and corporations is not socialism.
