Yeah, it's strange to me. I'd love to see older singers evolve and stop trying to play an 80s pop version of themselves. It's ok to adapt to a new stage of life.

Like Andre 3000. The fact that he released an instrumental flute album was fantastic. You don't have to do the same thing on repeat for 4 decades.

I saw Madonna in concert this year and loved the experience. Paul McCartney is hands down the most joyful performer I’ve ever seen. I would see him in concert yearly if I could.

I saw Rod Stewart probably 10+ years ago and even then he needed help from "backup" singers to carry the vocals.

PP. Never mind. I see Phil straightened out his issues with his ex wife a few years back.

I think Phil actually does perform for money needs. Also, Rod Stewart was smart to put out the American standards 20 years ago. He can cruise on those for years. Can you imagine him singing "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy now instead?

I’m absolutely a fan and am an avid concert goer. I think Phil Collins’ current performances are sad. He doesn’t need to tour. I’ve also seen way too many reconstituted “original” acts like Journey; at this point they are tribute acts or cover bands.

Performances by Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman were two of the best ever at the Grammys.

They are generally terrible. The only one who still had it until nearly the end was Johnny Cash.

As someone who saw late 20s/early 30s Madonna and who also saw her during this last tour, she needs to quit trying to keep the same vibe as during her younger years. Nix the choreography and focus on the music. She didn't even sing 1/4th of the time because she was winded from trying to do the disastrous choreo.

Older artists who keep their shows simple - some swaying/light moving to the beat and walking the stage - are still able to sing their iconic songs without any issues and sound just as great.

Artists I've seen do this: Elton John, Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, and Pink Floyd.

So many jealous, stupid people on this thread. Madonna, Cher, Springsteen, etc., will be done when either:
A) They want to be done or
B) No one will pay to see them

Plenty of people are thrilled to see these acts, and why not? Madonna wants to express herself, on her own terms, as she has done for decades, and you’re still shocked and whining about it? Hilarious.

Express Yourself, girl. Go on! People are paying to see it and you are loving it, good for you.

Yes Japanese Breakfast,The Head and the Heart, Belle & Sebastian and the Decemberists all needed a wheelchair ramp getting onto the stage. But boy can they still sing, thanks to their lucky stars and Efferdent.

That’s not how this works. They perform while there is still demand, and the artist is willing/able. Who wants to live in a world where The Rolling Stones have to retire to make room for Sabrina Carpenter
