The problem with YouTube is that the title of the video does not necessarily match what's in the video. It is not regulated and no one is watching the videos that anyone can upload.
It gets uploaded first without manual checking then removed only after getting flagged. This is true for all social media.

I read somewhere that something like 10% of followers of family youtube videos are following only other family videos and have indications of being pedos. They left creepy comments on kids videos to the point youtube had to turn comments off for kids videos
I worked at a home for mentally disabled kids and years later I read a news story that one of the senior counsellors, one who worked with non-verbal kids, got busted for chatting an undercover cop claiming to be an underaged kid

Just say, "no looking at that on my computer" and set some ratings on theirs, if they even have their own, which really they shouldn't at that age.

So much unhelpful info when you asked for help. Kids are curious, and banning stuff will just make it more appealing amd encourage sneaky behavior.
Explain to your son that there are lots of wild and crazy images on the internet. Talk about your relationship with your spouse, and explain that is healthy, and that there is a lot of material online that is inappropriate and unhealthy. That the scary part is that if you see the unhealthy stuff, it can get stuck in your head as normal and healthy when it is not, and that is why it's important that he not look at that stuff at his age. That you want to make sure what he keeps in his head are images and portrayal of healthy relationships, so that he can have those as he grows up

I made sure to reiterate that porn is not real and does not show what sex is really like, especially for women. It is for two people in love and who respect each other and sex is one way that adults may show each other that. What they saw was probably a lot to understand and it’s ok to feel embarrassed,
Confused, shame or scared. Ask him if he has questions. Then also follow up after a few days and talk about it again. Be open. I think it’s especially important to talk this thru with a boy from a mom.

Why does your 8-year-old have access to the full Internet?! My girls play Minecraft, but their computers are set up that there is no Googling, etc. Basic parental controls, hello.
Also, when my girls are online, they are in the dining room and a parent is in the kitchen or living room, so we can hear the game and are popping by, etc. Is your kid in his bedroom?!
