Merchan’s daughter, a Democratic political consultant, has posted a photo on social media of Trump behind bars. An account appearing to belong to Loren Merchan on X, formerly known as Twitter, has a photo illustration of an imprisoned Trump as its profile picture. Loren Merchan’s consulting firm had linked to that account in a previous social media post.
His lawyers are allowed to ask to get a new judge assigned on that basis. He is not allowed to discuss her.

"Merchan’s gag order is purposely tailored to protect Trump’s First Amendment rights, and does not specifically forbid the ex-POTUS from saying whatever he pleases about Manhatann District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Merchan, or their families."
If Merchan's daughter receives threats then I hope an addendum to the original gag order is issued. I don't see how this would affect Trump's 1st amendment rights.
Threats are not protected speech.

Prediction. 1st offense, a huge fine. 2nd offense, straight to Jail.
Ah yes, jail the opposition. When exactly did we become a banana republic?
Trump is not Judge Marchan’s opposition.
New York would be a lot better off if its judges spent their efforts putting violent criminals behind bars rather than trying to muzzle prominent politicians they don’t like.
In this case, the point is that when Trump talks about people involved in his court case, his followers become violent. When Trump badmouths witnesses, attorneys on the other side, judges, etc, those people get death threats and stalked or get swatted. Trump encourages violence.
If he didn't encourage violence and threats, then he wouldn't be gagged. He has a history of trying to intimidate his legal opponents and the judicial system with violence from his MAGA followers. So, the gag order is justified in this case.
I think statistics will show that the Trump-supporting regions of the country are a lot less violent than the places that don’t vote for him. Trump supporters are violent, so shut him up? Give me a break. His opponents can’t stand the fact that he can be very persuasive.
Oh, yes. All those redneck evangelicals that stormed the Capitol on Jan 6 were anything screaming "Hang Mike Pence," defecating in public spaces, murdering Capitol police were hardly law abiding. When MAGAS have their next uprising, I can only hope the police are armed and shoot to kill every last one of them

His rants destroy innocent workers' lives. It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with safety for the court workers, jurors and prosecutors. They need to do their jobs without fear that whack jobs from Utah will threaten them and gather outside their homes with assault weapons. Many people the Orange POS has targeted have had their lives upended because of his crazy attacks on them simply for doing their jobs or in the case of jurors, their patriotic duty.
The only whack job I can think of in recent years who did the things you are describing was James Hodgkinson, who thought it would be a good idea to murder Republican congressmen at baseball practice.
You’re forgetting about the MAGA bomber, and Paul Pelosi, and January 6, and the guy who attacked the FBI field office in Cincinnati the day of the Mar A Lago search warrant, and every prosecutor and election worker who has needed extra security over the last eight years, and Mitt Romney and every member of Congress who voted to impeach Trump. Just off the top of my head.
