I definitely judge. And I wouldn't take an upgrade if it meant leaving my husband in coach (and vice versa). Why? Because I'm not that desperate to have more comfort without my family! I prefer their company.

None of my friends would do any of these things either.

I’m with you, PP. I wouldn’t put status or my personal comfort over family. I suspect most people feel this way, but maybe not on this particular site.

Parents in first are separated from their children in coach so how do they know how their children are behaving?

Cheapskates! If you can’t afford four seats then you can’t afford first class.

Lol, I assure you we're not cheap. Our kids love flying "alone" but without actually being alone, they don't need the extra space first class provides, it's not like they'll avail themselves of the free alcoholic beverages, so there's no need to give them first class.

Nice so you relax while someone else has to babysit your kids for free.

They don't need to be babysat on an airplane. They have a backpack full of stuff to entertain themselves and snacks and water. There are some adults who need more help than they do.

Yes they do. Sad they have checked out selfish parents.

Weird how you're so convinced you know my kids better than I do. I won't keep arguing about something so ridiculous with you. You're more immature than a child throwing a temper tantrum.

Different poster, but I sat next to my kids (7 and 10) for 3 hours on a flight to Florida yesterday and I didn’t do anything. I worked on my laptop and they read, listed to podcasts with headphones, drew pictures and ate snacks while I worked on my laptop.
They handed their trash to me, but they wouldn’t have done that to a stranger.

Meanwhile my husband sat next to some single dude in his 30s who got up multiple times, so my husband had to take things off his tray and stand up and then wait for the guy to come back. The guy also dropped his phone / AirPods multiple times making people get up so he could reach them.

My kids are better seat mates than most adults and I believe this poster’s are too.

I would be more worried about an emergency like the door blowing off.

LOL. Most DCUM phrase ever.

Why judge? My 10 yr old sat next to me for a flight to Florida yesterday and would have been thrilled to sit by himself, listening to his podcasts and looking out the window.

Same. I often get upgraded on my status and send my DH to the more spacious seat while I stay in economy. Peoples situations are unique, as long as nobody is being harmed it’s ok to assume you don’t have the full story and move along.

Was it a full flight? Sometimes you have to take what is left.

As a family, we have been separated on planes, but always in coach where I could keep an eye on them. My concern is for the weirdo creepers that take advantage of unsupervised children.

You aren’t parenting. You are having the tantrum by being told to take care of your kids on a flight.

I think its ok at those ages. If you travel a lot you will get upgrades. Maybe the girls get a turn up there as well, who knows. Only problem is if the 7-9 year old needs something, but we don't know they dont have a system to communicate with dad.

Yuck, forces the older one to be the parent.

I wouldn’t leave my small kids alone like that. I would judge too OP
