It doesn’t matter the appropriateness level of the actual business to the recommendation. It’s so ridiculous at this point. People ask for a dentist and she recommends the one that pays her that of course, doesn’t take insurance. Because definitely most moms are able to go to a dentist that doesn’t accept insurance when so many do.
It’s always been my experience that the reason people ask for recommendations on these groups is because they want an actual place that other parents have used and loved. When it’s financial based-it’s biased and takes away from that 100%.
I already left the group but man-there also seemed to be some drama with the owner of the group and others. She seems really volatile when she is confronted about something? Her reactions just seem over the top.
Anyway I do think she started with good intentions but the group just seems all about money at this point.
Most good health providers don't accept insurance , none of our doctors except dermatologist accept insurance and the derm office is a billing disaster
Nonsense.

It’s funny as she advertises in tons of groups and will not let anyone advertise or ask questions. I tried to post a pta thing and was told no as no one works for free so why should they. Of course I was working for free. I wish other groups would ban their posts.
So happy to see this post echoing my feelings about her. I asked her to make a plug for a local small business who donated their time and resources to children with disabilities and she said NO with the same reasons about how it’s not fair they didn’t pay. Ummmm what about philanthropy and giving back to the community???
She said no to a pta posting as she said no one works for free and they don’t. Yet she posts her groups and events in other groups for free all the time. It was so bizzare.
I don’t know if she still does it because it was a long time ago-but for a while everytime everyone asked a question in a different parenting group she would comment asking them to join and ask in her group. I hope she was kicked out of the other groups. She is so hypocritical. it’s so gross.

It was a pretty helpful page. I unsubscribed after I started to get the chat stuff when this lady took over. I believe there are several offshoots, like a page for parents with special needs.
I am still subscribed to the meetup version - which used to be free but now it's 5 dollars a year (I think the charge came before she took over though). It lists out different kids based activities per day. My kids are older now but I still find some events here and there that I might not have found elsewhere. Just putting this out there in case someone finds it helpful.
Are you talking about the group for kids? That is different, kinda. A lovely mom ran it for years and her kids grew up and many of us in it eventually stopped going/organizing things as our kids got older and in activities/friends. She handed the group over to six cool moms and it went downhill very quickly and isn't the same group or worthwhile. Before it was all free and money the group leader, but some other parents organized lunches, activities and meet ups. She didn't want to shut down the group but no one else would take over. It was a great group.

The whole positing of penises is soo weird and not even funny just weird. So immature.
The antidepressants thing was scary and not something I fault her for sharing-it’s important. But literally everything else about her is just…the worst.
And yes the penises-over the top. And really really trying to hard. She so badly wants to be funny. She is not.
What’s the backstory
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I made the mistake of asking if they actually researched the business they recommend. Got an earful as to how they know and trust everyone they recommend. No actual research or knowing if they are good. Just money.
You have to pay for the recommendation and only desperate businesses do. I look at the recommendations and assume they are poorly run failing businesses. They also assume that everything from everywhere is free for them. 200 cupcakes for an event from a mom owned tiny business, don't expect payments. Shock when they enroll in a class and are charged. It's so not cool.
