Teachers should definitely not tell parents to avoid the judgmental wrath of COVID extremists. Go back when you’re fever free, like with all other illnesses. And if you’re high risk, then mask, but don’t expect others to in perpetuity.

I'm the PP you are quoting and I agree. I was responding to OP who thinks her kid's preschool teacher should stay home even if she feels better.

Teaching is a whole different job than sitting at a desk all day. It tires me out on a normal day when I'm healthy.
What's your point? Are you saying you should never have to work then?

4 days out and feeling mostly better? Absolutely go to work. Wear a mask if you want, but you're not likely to be particularly contagious at that point.

Can you imagine if two or three teachers are out sick at the same time. The ratios would be all off and classes would need to be mixed or canceled or who knows what if people started taking 5 to 10 days again.

She can do what she wants. As this point, you cant mandate her to stay home or wear a mask as long as she has been fever free for over 24 hrs. It is up to her if she wants to wear a mask, disclose a diagnosis, or stay home longer than required.

Flat out false. The science is very unclear about contagiousness of covid in the later phases especially using at home tests. In fact, evidence suggests that people after ten days are NOT contagious even when testing positive.

I understand what you're saying but I don't get pto. Since Covid started, I isolated 3 different times for a total of 15+ days, with 2x ending up negative but home tests unavailable until I could get an appointment. I can't afford to keep taking 5 days off every time I may get Covid but am happy to mask after being fever free until negative.
