I think we said it wasn’t as bad as the outside.

The columns are weird since the house isn’t that old but they’re a very common 90’s feature. It’s not that hard to get rid of them if you don’t like them. It’s not like they’re structural.

Ditto the tile, if you don’t like it have it changed before you move in.

Both of those are a bit of a PITA but not likely to end up a months long project or a money pit. Like the worst case is you find water damage and have to replace some subfloor. Those floors aren’t that old, there’s no mortar bed or anything crazy.

I mean obviously don’t move into this house because it’s fug, but don’t not move in because of the columns or tile.

The house - both exterior and interior - has a lot of dubious design choices, but more striking is that they squeezed a 6600 sq ft house into that tiny "lot" between two other houses. You'll literally hear your neighbors closet doors close -- or you would except that the noise from one of the busiest parts of the Beltway just 250 feet away will probably drown it out. This house somehow manages to combine the inaccessibility of the exburbs (and notwithstanding the Bethesda address, this house is outside the Beltway and requires a drive to everywhere) with the limited land and zero privacy of a congested urban neighborhood ... the much-coveted lose-lose combination.

Isn't this actually built on top of the old quarry that they filled in?

Good grief. The poor neighbors. Do you think the driveway is fully within the house's property line? So the neighbors with the planters - is that some sort of shared driveway? Or did they just do a bad job siting the neighbor's house so their front yard is someone's driveway? THis is terrible.

What about the wet bar in the bedroom? 1970?

Wire closets at that price? It's a no for me.

I have a question -- why do people do tile like this? Hardwood, or carpet would be better. Hell, even laminate. The tiles are just so hard and cold.

This is such a clear case where making some renovations before putting the house on the market could make a huge impact. Those tile floors are so outdated as are the stupid unnecessary columns. Given the house is empty, I think there would be a huge ROI replacing tile with wood floors and killing some columns.

the tile throughout the main level needs steam cleaning, esp. the grout as others pointed out. that's going to be uncomfortable to walk on too.

ugh, the outside is horrible! you drive feet from the neighbors front door to get to the house. and the deck in back has zero appeal or privacy. Inside seems fine.

You have just described downtown Bethesda. Yuck.

It looks like military college housing. Did a general build it?
