Who actually receives the tip when you order takeout?

If you’re only ordering it for tradition’s sake and you don’t even like fried fish, order 1 adult size fish and chips, split it between the 4 of you, and then supplement the meal with other foods you like. Treat the fried fish like an appetizer. Why would you waste time strategizing the cheapest way to order 4 servings of something you don’t even like?

How is this a scam order? how is this even a concern? These items are on the menu, you’re allowed to order whatever you want. Are there people here who think it’s a scam if I just order apps and no main? Do I have to get a dessert? What if I just want sides?

I really don’t see what the problem is. I don’t think it’s a scam. The restaurants offer a smaller portion for a smaller price. If they are relying on the adult meal to subsidize the kid’s meal they could structure their pricing differently, require the purchase of an adult meal with any kids meals, set an age limit, etc. American portions are infamously oversized and there are lots of people (elderly, dieters, economizers, etc.) who would prefer the smaller portion. It’s basically the same concept as just ordering appetizers or desserts, and people don’t consider that a scam.

This isn't difficult: Order two regular menu fish & chips entrees and don't tip a cent.
