The American Investment Council spearheaded this letter with a whopping 15 employees.

I don’t call you slightly skeptical. I call you disconnected or, worse, clueless.

I am very connected and have friends at some of these trade associations. Some are so small they are not even worth listing. The letter was not helpful. I could have written a letter that said something. That was poorly executed. I speak to my employees every day. We have well over 100 - so not clueless.

This letter should’ve been fired off last summer.

There are a lot of leases coming up for renewal. That is partly where this is coming from. The energy is all in NOVA now.

No. We are a very large trade association who did not sign the letter. We are building out 45,000 sq ft downtown. We never even considered moving to NoVA.

The site owner occasionally makes comments that insinuate the people who post about crime are delusional and concerned about nothing lol.

He tried to shove this issue under the rug for years. No idea why. He had always seemed reasonable before. It is as if he lost his mind trying to prove he was virtuous. Well that attitude lulled people and destroyed the city. Nothing virtuous at all about it.

Sadly it is not uncommon for people to ignore reality and data in order to support their ideological beliefs.

The irony here is that more crime disproportionately hurts poor and marginalized people more than the wealthy.

Ignoring crime because here it’s the affluent white moms who post about it is not “virtuous” and is the definition of a luxury belief.

Since moving to DC I have astonished by the breathtaking hypocrisy of the wealthy who espouse “progressive” values that actually hurt the underprivileged people they claim to help. All of the studies and data indicates that crime and criminality hurts poor people the most. They are much more likely to be victims or crime. But the affluent hear will scoff if you mention this fact and sweep crime under the rug while talking about defunding the police and restorative justice.

Rev Al Sharpton calls these woke "progressives" Latte Liberals.

Of course, he lives in an area that is less impacted by crime and is an UMC white male. All studies reveal that crime disproportionately harms lower income people, especially women of color. It’s easy to dismiss crime as unimportant when you are insulated from it by wealth and privilege.

Studies also reveal that lower income people are harmed the most by the justice system. Lower income women of color have lost their jobs, and then their homes and even their children, because they couldn’t afford $2k cash bail for shoplifting a pack of diapers. They’ve spent longer in jail awaiting trial than they would serve in prison as punishment. I won’t even get into the weaponization of drug possession laws against people of color. Black lives have been destroyed for less pot than a white frat boy might casually smoke in one weekend.

Justice reform is admirable and shouldn’t be abandoned. With that being said, what DC is doing is just straight up laziness. Anything involving force or violence or a threat to society needs to be punished and society protected from the threat in the meantime. We can all agree that casual shoplifting and forcible carjacking are different crimes by nature.

Mendo perjured himself denying it.

The council has shown They. Do. Not. Care.

This is why the recalls are so necessary. It’s the only way we will get any action on this.

All predicted by the conservatives (not MAGA Trumpers) during the "defund the police" movement. duh

MAGA Trumpers predicted it just as loudly, thank you.

Thank you. This is exactly what is happening. And the virtuous wealthy have the gall to brag about the destruction they are causing.
