There is also apparently lots of homeless shelters and homeless people around these college towns - UT Austin, Gainesville, UGA, etc.

People here focus two much on the urban/suburban divide. The University of Idaho was the site of a quadruple murder last year. Both UVa and VaTech have been the site of murders. Crime is everywhere and student on student crime is particularly hard to protect agaianst.

Illinois has a convicted rapist on their D1 basketball team. He is a high scorer so raping is okay for him to do, I guess.

Crime is all over. If you have desirable skills, you’ll be excused.

I suspect that's about to change quickly after this incident. where were the housing projects? We visited last year and I didn't notice any.
I never saw police on any other campuses we visited either. There is no good to any death, but I suspect they will be running a much tighter ship.
I went to UMD in the 90's and the College Park rapist walked into our house! We were on the news. It's all so crazy. Where else is your DD looking?


There was a College Park rapist? I went to UMD in the 90s and never heard about it.

The police in the 90s were more focused on getting students in trouble than protecting them.
