This is funny. My mom used this same technique on my when I was a nagging child. I use it on my kids. Perfectly acceptable way to handle it. Team DH.

She's anxious, or manipulative and your DH is used to her because she's always done this. My mother and MIL do the same thing to us. They want immediate answers to any invitation. An invitation is not a court summons. You do not have to respond immediately and they can wait a few days.

Agree. Really, that is the natural consequences of her demands for immediate answers. I am not able to commit now, so if you need a yes or no answer, it will have to be no. This will either lessen the amount you see them or stop her from demanding immediate responses.
