OP here. Fair enough. He’s pretty used to the WASP-y New England vibe (where he went to college) but more concerned about rednecky vibes.

We went to Santa Barbara Family Vacation Center this summer (week 6). We really enjoyed it and our family of 4 had a 4 bedroom suite so, although it’s dorm living and dark (and cafeteria food) we had tons of space. Two of the families had been to Tyler place before - which I’m curious about - and they said their kids preferred Santa Barbara, especially because of the weather.

Because some families to year after year that can make it harder to make friends. Although it was very white, the friends my girls (7 and 11) hit it off with and hung out with for the week were both bi-racial (black and white and Asian and white). Many of the families were Jewish - I know if that’s just that week or common there. We are not and we didn’t feel awkward at all. I was aware of one two-mom family and did not meet any families with two-dads or single parents.

There are Asian and Wasian families at Deer Valley. We just got back from week 10.

We are asian. I have never heard of family camp, will there be any asian families there? We are from dmv area, and kids are 5 and 8. I want to do one with water because I want kids to expose to something new like water activities on sailing/paddleboarding or ocean fishing etc. The 8 year old has been doing outdoor camp for the last few years here like ziplining, fishing & archery. He hesitates about horse riding, I don't mind him trying it out. My 5 year old is a girl, and she has not been to any day camp yet. It will be great all these family camp happen during summer break time. Any recommendation? Are they have to be a full week? It would be great just a few days and we can also explore other tourist attraction in the area.
