It is fine for a summer rehearsal dinner. It is fine for the welcome drinks party. It has sleeves and most importantly it looks comfortable.

If you choose that dress (which would be an insanely odd thing to do, considering there are other color options in the exact same style), people WILL comment on it and they WILL make assumptions about you and your desire for attention. Even if the people making comments/seeing you as That MIL aren’t the bride and groom, do you really want raised eyebrows behind your back?

You WILL pull focus from the bride and groom. Is that what you want? Yes or no.

OP here. Thanks for these. I really want a pretty summer color for a summer event - and hopefully a dress I could wear for future summer weddings. I like short sleeves because the rehearsal will be in a Catholic church, followed by a small family dinner and then a welcome drinks party for all invited guests, so I don't want to be too "cocktail". Also, I am a small-framed size 4, so sometimes dresses with a lot of fabric just overwhelm me.

+1. OP, the wedding rehearsal and wedding proper are about the bride and groom. You are supposed to wear a muted color and not stand out. You never wear white.

Apart from the fact that it reads as more white than not, it is very much a “Look at me!” dress. At the rehearsal dinner, the attention should be on the bride and groom, not the mother of the groom. This dress just looks as though you want all the attention on you instead of the couple.

I mean, it's fine. But it's also white enough that someone will snicker or say something. And given that you are the mother of the groom, you don't want that.

You want to wear this to future weddings? Then no for sure. Questionable for rehearsal but a definite no for a wedding.

I actually like the pink one better.
