-1 This city is NOT going to be better under Trump. Everyone will pull to the left to distance themselves from his outright insanity.

Do we not remember how much of a shitshow this city was under Trump? Leaving aside the J6 riots, he was non-stop inflaming racial tensions, leading to chaos and borderline riots after George Floyd.

Remember how Biden threatened to veto the Charles Allen's stupid crime bill when Allen was too tone deaf to get a sensible crime bill passed? Biden is a centrist.

We need an adult in office.

No one wants Trump. We are saying Trump will federalize if he wins. Allen and the situation in DC are hurting Biden’s election chances (yes, really) because he looks weak and like he can’t get the city to be safe. So, if we do nothing, Biden might not get elected. Either way = permanent federalization

If you want certainty, the only move is to pull a Clinton and institute a Control Board now. That way Dems control the appointments and rules. The local government is back in 4 budget cycles. That’s the right move.

It's funny because this is the same thing Janeese says. Same old excuses. Either crime isn't that bad or if it is, then it's someone else's fault (the mayor! the police! the attorney general! mean old Republicans!) because the city council doesnt really have any power. Uh, huh, right. Buh bye.

You have every right to feel that way. It doesn't change the fact that they were both elected overwhelmingly and many of us do agree with them.

The Sticky Fingers owner above does not exactly strike me a “GOP operative” lol.

But nice gas-lighting attempt, PP.

I am weird about privacy too. I would love to sign anonymously but since that’s not possible, I am just going to bite the bullet. The safety of my kids matters more.

A successful recall of Allen shows the rest of the Council what happens to elected officials who put the well-being of criminals above law-abiding citizens. It shows that we are paying attention, are pissed off, and will hold them ALL accountable if they don't shape up. It will signal a correction of the overcorrection.

nybody can get copies of the petitions from BOE in the signature review period. They're no proactively posted on the BOE website but they'll certainly be widely circulated and thoroughly reviewed by recall opponents in the challenge period.

Is it a bit unfair because Wards 1, 4 and 8 deserve a recall more? Maybe. He has though really made a lot of enemies and detractors in his own party and I can’t see how he has any future politically. That’s why he’s desperate to hold on to this job.

Regardless of Allen, a reform of how we elect the Council and term limits are a must.

Ward 4 seat is up this election cycle and an electable challenger is running, no need to worry about that seat at the moment.

Who is that that's electable? I don't think it's going so great for Lisa.

No, because it needs to be verified that you are a Ward 6 resident. You can't anonymously sign petitions to recall someone who was duly elected.

Google Jack Evans, another low information poster. And enough with all the emotion and "feels" focus, this is not Tumblr.

11-2 vote, Mendo and Jack Evans voted no.

he loudly supported and voted to decriminalize street vending. This has led to people ransacking stores and selling stolen goods on the street. My local stores now have a majority of their products behind glass. Now when I go into a CVS in the city, I have to wait around for someone to unlock the shampoo.

Passed unanimously

using budgetary control, he implemented a hiring freeze on new police officers. This resulted in police numbers dropping dramatically and led to a spike in crime. Then he bragged about it on Twitter: https://twitter.com/charlesallen/status/1277421585993994243

Passed unamimously. No member introduced an amendment to rollback the reallocations made in the public safety and justice budget.

It's like you think because there are other people making bad decisions, I shouldn't be upset that my own Councilmember is making bad decisions. I live in Ward 6. I only get one Councilmember, and he's not doing his most basic job of trying to keep his constituents safe. First his supporters said his voting record was "misrepresented" and now you're saying "oh but other people voted for those things as well." For me, the fact that there are other people who are ALSO not doing their job doesn't make a lick of difference.

Well, you asked for explanations and I did so. Now you are making a separate argument, to which I would argue yes, you have more than one CM. Voting 1 out will do nothing to change your safety, but it will cost the city more money than just waiting until the next election. You all don't even have a candidate so it just seems like a vendetta rather than anything that will actually help the city.

I disagree. It says to the limitless term people, you are accountable to us, your constituents

They run every four years. That's how you hold people accountable.

Not through primary based system. We can’t even vote out the Jews control cities Councilman.

So there isn't a strong enough Democratic candidate in a normal election cycle, so you are going to try and push one through this way through R backing? That's the plan?

Getting Allen out is my plan

Good luck in your efforts. I hope its more thought through once you get the signatures required.
