Not sure, I don't run my kid's account. Are you sure that is the right link?

Yes, like I said in my original post, I asked my oldest to post it to Reddit since I'm not on there

Yet the post oddly sounds like you OP!?

Probably because I sent it to him to post! LOL

I definitely have. She has GW and Fordham in mind for safeties. All of the schools she has picked are affordable

Fordham and GW are targets, NOT safeties. Advice kindly meant to a newbie.

Husband is convinced they're safeties. What school should she add as a true safety then?

If you had said Harvard or MIT were targets then GW and Fordham would be safeties. But if you consider Northeastern, BU, Tufts, and BC DC’s targets then a true safety would be U Mass Boston.

Even with an SAT score of 1490 and only As? I don't think she would go to UMass Boston, but I will suggest it to her. Thanks!

BC and NEU love high SAT's. BU doesn't have a traditional campus. I suggest she visit, speak to current students, hang around the student union, etc.

And no, NEU is a safety for no one. Trolls gotta troll I guess.

Stats @ 19:25
OP here, planning a visit for later this month. The coop experience appeals because I think it will suit her well for her career. She has a 1490 SAT and is on track for valedictorian (she's never gotten lower than an A) but her ECs are not up to par for top schools

Tufts is really strong academically, in a lot of areas, but not really in Boston. BU is overpriced and very urban-the freshman dorms are horrible. Also, it doesn't have a real "campus" feel--like GW in DC. Northeastern is overrated but a perfectly fine school if you want to enter that madness.

Don't just look at the sticker price. According to the most recent data from Niche, the average cost after financial aid is $25,852.
Boston University offers relatively competitive financial aid.
Also, some students like the unique BU campus vibe, while others may not. It really depends on your kids' preferences.

Highly recommend using the Net Price Calculators without consideration of "average" financial aid.

Make sure you do the tours. Don’t just go all around. The tour experiences at BC and BU gave us much more info than if we had just walked around. The schools are nothing alike.

For both BU and NEU, SAT in the 1500's, 8-12 AP's, unweighted GPA north of 3.8 and applying ED you can kind of bet on getting in. Otherise, RD is impossible. It's the game these schools play with ED. Love us enought to commit ED and we make easy for you; otherwise, nope.

GW is a low target with a reputation for yield protection, hence not a safety.

Fordham is a low target.

Safeties: Loyola Chicago comes to mind.
