BREAKING: The European Union is said to be seeking sanctions and a "travel ban" against Tucker Carlson for his interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
I never thought I would be defending Tucker Carlson so much within a period of a couple days, but once again, if you support freedom then you should support Tucker's right to interview Putin, just like many others have in the past.
I'm sure much of what Putin will say will be lies, embellishments and inaccuracies. Putin is the one who should be sanctioned further, not an American who is asking Putin questions.
The 'risks' of this interview for Tucker shouldn't be sanctions from US allies.

And what do you hope to learn?
I make an effort to listen to all different viewpoints, especially interviews with leaders of countries who have nukes who we are in a proxy war against. It beats being spoonfed a one-sided media diet.
Putin is an Ex-KGB agent who has found a useful idiot to advance his cause. Tucker wants to get back to where he was in popularity and he’ll debase himself and his country to get there.
I’m sorry to say, based on your post, and a sheepish response to all this, it’s pretty easy to assume you probably support many of the values Putin claims to care about (Christian nationalism, anti-gay policies, “traditional values”). You’re not here because you “just want to avoid war unnecessarily” or whatever excuse you have. You probably straight up don’t like a lot of contemporary liberal values.
If you’re okay with listening to what a guy who keeps on annexing ex-Soviet countries has to say, it’s pretty clear you’re sympathetic to his reasoning.
Palestine espouses Islamic nationalism, anti gay policies, and traditional values.
And yet no one accuses the far left of the bolded.
You guys are impossible.
Clever distraction. “Firehose of propaganda” technique.
It's called context, and it's important when you're evaluating the validity of an assertion. If you're saying that people who don't want the US involved in the Ukraine/Russia conflict are pro-Russia and everything Russia stands for, then it stands to reason that the same is true for the left and the Palestine/Israel conflict.
It’s whataboutism.
Let’s stick to Tucker interviewing a KGB dictator who hates gays, pushes his political opponents out of windows or sends them to Gulags in Siberia, and is invading neighboring countries in an effort to grow territory lost and become an empire again.
And let’s talk about how conservatives are okay with listening to this propaganda session because of their confirmation bias. You hate liberal culture so much you’re willing to align with an authoritarian regime.

I love how all the usual suspects are kvetching about this. They want us to fight Russia, but you would never catch them in a trench.
I'm a liberal in my late 50s, but if we went to full blown war against Russia or China I'd offer myself up in a heartbeat. Not for trench warfare, but instead where my actual expertise lies - geoint and data science. Most of us are far more patriotic than you realize, and some of us have talents that are better suited for large scale strategic approaches than sitting in a trench. And if you didn't understand what I mean or it somehow doesn't comport with whatever worldview you've been fed, I suggest you discard your current notions and start over from square one.
That's great that you're an important person who gets to fight Russia from a comfy building, but all your *ints are useless without dudes sitting in trenches. When you're willing to get trench foot and ward of a FPV drone with a tree-branch, then you can advocate war with Russia.

The difference is, the others actually asked hard and confrontational questions, AS OPPOSED TO what Tucker does, which is to support Putin's propaganda and serve as a mouthpiece.
You haven't even seen the interview yet.

He is basically a mouthpiece for Russia. He isn’t looking to “tell the truth”. American conservatives will eat it up. The interview will increase the polarization in our country. The sad part is I realize half the country is extremely conservative and probably look to Russia as a source of hope. It’s a place where gays are vilified because it’s a place of “traditional values”. Where a strongman calls the shots. It’s a Christian nationalists dream.
This whole interview is traitorous and bullsht. All it will do is further erode support for additional assistance to Ukraine and show our WW2 allies we have issues.
I loved, "we have our first amendment rights NO MATTER WHO IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE!" Bc clearly Joe Biden has been trying to take away our free speech. Also, Tucker stated for a face that the Biden admin spied on his text messages. Has that been proven? Free speech or not sounds like libel to me.
