The police in this city are a joke.
Your personal responsibility isn't all that much either, it seems.
This is why you see men in fancy business suits jumping the metro fare gates. When something isn’t against the law (or you don’t enforce the law) society falls apart.
I took the metro for the first time in a long time today, and wondered why I should pay the fare.
Yes, as we all know, if everyone else is doing something that's wrong, it's no longer wrong and you should do it, too.
I think that's how we legalized marijuana and that turned out fine.
No, that's not how we legalized marijuana. We legalized it by legalizing it. With laws.
Laws that were changed because everyone was already ignoring the existing ones. So there was really no alternative but to legalize weed.
Traffic laws are effectively nonexistent (definitely not enforced) in DC. Do what you do!
This. My kid is in one of the schools discussed above and I turn left on Bank Street which is no left turn in the morning. But the police don’t enforce so staying on M until 33rd street has become dangerous. Until they start enforcing it I’ll keep turning on Bank so I don’t get into an accident.
Are you blocking people behind you when you make the illegal turn?

Those are bicycles.

These parents that think it's okay to drive the wrong way just because they are in a hurry to do school drop off - it's ridiculous. Today 7 cars drove nearly the length of an entire block, trying to cut around cars, and there were 2 near crashes. With children in the car! This is a major safety issue and it's not difficult to solve--- We need to install flexible/removable barriers.

What school is this?
It’s parents coming from Virginia to drop their kids off at the private Catholic schools - visitation, Saint Ann’s, plus work is trying to get to their jobs at Georgetown University & the hospital
Ah, rich people.
no, troll. school closed 10 years ago
There is a St. Ann school at Tenley Circle.
OP, fine if you’re venting however this is not the place to effect traffic enforcement.
