Deeny was at Blair for two years before she became principal at TPMS. But I do not believe that she will go back to Blair, although she is one of the few who could probably manage Blair.

She was? When she left she told the TPMS community she’d been there for 22 years.

Yes, she was one of the APs at Blair. I remember Ms. Johnson congratulating Deeny on her appointment as principal at TPMS, while at the same time regretting that she only had her for two years at Blair.

Ah, so she has a track record of going back to a school where she is loved (years at TPMS, brief stint at Blair and back to TPMS)! Looking forward to her appointment at Blair!

Makes a lot of sense. She'd be perfect for the job, but not sure how they'd entice her.

It was such a well run school. She will be missed.

Never say never, but Alicia Deeny lives in the Cabin John area, so much closer to Rockville, than 4 Corners in SS. With the hours that a principal works, commuting distance is a real consideration. Plus, Deeny has worked hard to successfully unite and lead the RM community - no one walks away from that easily.

Where she lives is irrelevant. She has very strong connections to Takoma park and Blair.

Why would a current high school principal leave their school, where they are respected/loved and is close to home, for a lateral move? They would not! She moved up from the middle school because it was a promotion. Trust - you are getting a current intern or a Blair AP that moves on up. No experienced administrator from another district is applying to MCPS while we have this big mess going on.

Seriously, MCPS is in real trouble. All of the other experienced administrators are going to leave and the schools will be left with inexperienced, less knowledgeable people at their helm. This is so sad.

Not a lateral move. Blair is the largest high school in Maryland.

There are other principal retirement announcements pending - at least 6 are confirmed at this time.

Is she retiring over the summer or before the school year ends?

I don't know any of the current APs at Blair - maybe someone at the school currently would be a good fit. I also think that Vickie Adamson, principal at Kennedy HS currently, would be a great fit. She was the longtime English resource teacher at Blair before moving into administration. But, that would be a disservice to Kennedy as this is Adamson's first year there.

Ms Deeny (formerly of TPMS) would be a good choice.

No way, lol. You are NOT taking Deeny away from RM. She's fantastic and well-liked. She is a good choice for RM, right where she is now, TYVM.

We know she’s well liked. We want her back! The TPMS kids who loved her are now at Blair

It would be like coming home again.

I think she's pretty happy at RM.

What a loss for Blair. Ms. Johnson is such a fantastic leader with the right balance of authority and camaraderie. Both these ladies have been inspriational leaders for my kids, and both have amazing to work with as a parent volunteer. Ms. Johnson will be sorely missed!
