Many times when you try to switch into a competitive major there will be required classes and sone may have restrictions that don’t allow you to enroll until certain criteria have been met. It could add a semester or year to get that degree. Also Econ majors are not always allowed to participate in business clubs, networking, recruiting that are only available to business students. Just something to think about too.

And also realize, that at many of these schools business is "Direct Admit" and transferring in later is not easy. So sure, major in Econ if that's what you want, but if you really want business, then find a school where you can actually major in business

I was surprised at that too. All of the top 1-10 and 20 Achilles wanted essays about it as well. Some you had to pick from a drop down and then write why and what your future plans were.

I had no idea as a senior. It was biology or English and I was undeclared when I applied.

Thankfully my Senior has a very clear idea of what he wants to study and courses, reasons essays all intertwine.

My second born is all over the map.

Undecided is fine. If indicate a major on the app, it should be reflected in the transcript/ECs/application as a whole.

I find it ridiculous that so many schools require applicants to list a major. The whole point of freshman and sophomore year used to be to see what you might be interested in. And, what is the point if the school let's students change majors anyway.

This is so funny to me because a former Goldman Sachs analyst once told a lie to me in order to get a job offer. It involved his mother being sick with cancer.

My kid had an interest in one area for years. They had a job related to it and had activities related to it. The story is there for an exercise/fitness/kinesiology related field. However, they have different interests now as a junior. You are saying that their major won't be taken seriously b/c it does fit a story??
