You’re doing something wrong if your return is that high.

You don't actually believe that prior post, do you? Most of the posts on DCUM, especially on the Money and Finance forum are fiction.

There’s a lot of clueless people out there. Watch Dave ramsey’s show.

I do my own taxes online. We always have self employment income and W-2s and we used to have rental income with depreciation. It's not that hard. The websites walk you through it for the most part. I used to go into the state website and retype all the numbers so I could file free, but now I am old and lazy and I pay $9.95 to e-file the state on the same website I file federal on 😂

yeah well that will not work for all. Return includes mutiple countries and states. 5k and that is with a discount.

Once you figure out the legal consequences of giving bad tax advice you'll realize that this is not an arbitrage.

I haven't gotten the bill this year. I have been using him for years. I haven't gotten the bill for this year but I believe last year it was 350ish. I file head of household, have some investments, a private therapy practice and a rental property. Sold the property and the business so taxes are about to become easier. I may attempt it myself one of these days. My accountant has a child with special needs and he does this as a side hustle to pay for therapy services. I feel good about using him and feel he is reasonably priced.

I think I paid $130 for my simple return and she didn't charge anything for my teen son. Our family has been going to them for years. We are in Baltimore though so maybe cheaper due to the location.

Honestly, I thought I was getting ripped off - until I saw what other people here are paying. Our taxes have ranged between $500-$600 for the past decade. However, we were shocked when the price was raised to $750 this past tax season. Our taxes are fairly straightforward, though we have one LLC and rental property. But our situation has been the same for so long. We avoided Turbo tax once we had an LLC and rental property because we had read that there is less chance of getting audited if someone else does your taxes.

Almost all my income is tax free (high 6 figures) so I don’t pay anything for tax prep. It takes me a couple of hours. The Roth IRA/401K, HDHP HSA, and years of Mega Backdoor Roth contributions is the way to go. Keep in mind, Peter Thiel had a Roth that was worth $5 Billion. If he invested that in your basic MM earning 4.5%, that’s $225M in tax free income. Unfortunately, the socialists in the govt didn’t like this and changed the Roth rules.

Wow….you’re getting ripped off and I don’t care how complicated you think your return is. It isn’t.
