Not sure about square footage. We have 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths. A living room, a rec room, a small eat-in kitchen. ALL rooms are small. It only felt too small for short period in their late teens - since we had 4 large people living here. And it was large-enough starter home that we never needed had to trade-up as the family grew. Now with kids gone, it's small enough we don't need to downsize. Doing it again, during the years the house felt tight, I would consider a storage unit rental. Not worth moving for more space, but that might have been helpful for a couple of years.
