I’m not even joking either. If you’re concerned about your kid not being smart enough to turn down drugs/alcohol. You shouldn’t let them go to college, and let them know they’ll get 0 assistance if you don’t think they’re mature enough/have enough commonsense

FYI - they can still get a certain loan type w/o your info. And the loan & grant types they can't get without your information they probably wouldn't qualify for anyway based off HHI for most folks in the DMV.

When they were about 8 I started point out homeless people leaning over and telling them that started with drugs and once you start drugs you have no control over how your body will react.

So this is a tough topic.

I've been to rehab myself. I've seen everything.

What I tell my kids is that this is not a time to explore anything. Fent is in everything. You think you're buying Xanax? Wrong. You think drug dealers are fastidious about how they're mixing things? No. They are garbage human beings. They are not CalTech scientists.

Fentanyl is in everything.

It is extremely dangerous out there presently.

Weed too.

The brain hasn't matured at 14,15,16,17. The pre-frontal cortex takes about 23 years until it matures. Drugs and alcohol really warp it.

Short answer is do not let your kids mess around with drugs at this moment in time. Put them in a survival camp in Nunavut if you need to. It is really dangerous out there.

I scare them to death about drugs

i send my kid pix and news stories of people with rotting or amputated limbs from tranq sores, fentanyl addicts overdosing and living in squalid tents, recent stories about weed causing psychosis in teens. seems to be working so far

I started these conversations when she was a toddler. I made sure she saw the negative effects of drugs whenever they touched close. I let her hear conversations of family dealing with the pain of addiction. This isn’t a discussion to start when all they see is the fun part.

you realize most kids in sports are stoned half the time? The "sports are safe thing " is not accurate.
