Extremely dry skin and very frequent nose and lip bleeding. A painful rash on his arms that we have a secondary prescription for. He also had an injury and had to go off it for a while as there are some studies showing correlation to slower healing. But even with all that, he is glad he is on it.

same here--if scarring and facial fat loss then would do it..wouldnt be happy about it but would definitely do it.

We tried the Tretinoin and were told that you have to give it 3 months. Whatever you see then is likely all the better it will be.

We decided on Accutane after listening to the history of the bad rap and finding out the Dermo has done 2 rounds of it himself; and he has awesome skin. You go in monthly for a checkup and have blood work done so you have plenty of chances to discuss side effects.

Teenage boys can be reluctant to admit when they are feeling insecure. Mine claimed his acne didn't bother him, but I was worried about scarring as I have them. The dermo also takes a front and side picture every month. My DS asked to see them last appointment and he was really surprised and happy at the progress.

I had horrendous acne in my late teens/early 20s and ended up doing Accutane. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I did not experience any of the depression (or other) side effects. In fact, it was the complete opposite — improved confidence and outlook.

If they have scarring then it’s severe acne. I had cystic acne after my first child, mostly on my back and got accutane. Side effect was dryness. It’s the only drug that will take care of the cystic type.
