7th grader has a loft bed with desk underneath and a bean bag. She mostly does her homework either on her desk or bean bag depending on what it is. Sometimes dining room or couch if she needs help.

7th grader does most of her homework in her room (either in bed or sitting/lying on her floor). Her room is small, so doesn't really have room for a desk. We have a nook in our dining room where she has a desk and very occasionally she'll choose to work there. If she's in a phase of homework rebellion, she has to sit there so I'm sure she's actually doing her homework. (She's generally pretty good, but she is a procrastinator so every once in a while she needs some extra monitoring to make sure she's caught up.)

If it's something she needs help with, she usually ends up next to me on the living room couch. Projects (like science fair) are usually constructed in the middle of the living room floor because it has the most space to lay everything out.

6th and 3rd grade each have a desk at their rooms since kindergarten. We replace the desks and got ergonomic chairs over the and they do their homework at their rooms. When they were much younger we let them do homework on dining table so I could assist while cooking if DH’s busy.

Each child is unique in their preferences. My DD, who is in high school, has always enjoyed being in her room and typically works on her bed, floor, or desk. On the other hand, my DS, in middle school, only uses his bedroom for sleeping. He prefers working on the main floor with people around, either at his desk in the living room or at the dining table. Both of them adhere to their schedules.

One does it in the dining room, the other has a desk in the formal living room.

Woah - you need to step up that rigor for HS kids.

They are taking the hardest possible schedule at their Nova public school. Teachers just don’t give much homework, plus there is a 90 minute study hall every other day.

Dining room table. We do not allow any electronics in the bedroom.

dining room table. desk in room is used for storage/clutter.

DS - Middle schooler does his work at the kitchen table, the kitchen island, or on his bed using an inexpensive lap desk.

DD - High schooler works in her room at a simple desk we got her or on a lap desk while sitting on a beanbag chair.

DD has always liked quiet while she works - she’s done homework solo in her room since 6th grade. But DS usually prefers company when he works. We rarely provide supervision or help - he just likes knowing we’re around.
