There were posts in another thread that parents didn't know what screen time, app limits and downtime were on an iPhone. And I was like who the heck gives their teen a phone with unlimited internet, social media, and apps with no way to control it. That's insane.

They sound kinda boring. I wouldn’t glamorize teen drinking, I was actually a bit of a nerd at that age, but I used to sneak out with my best friend to the local park and we’d swing and talk, walk to the 24 hour diner, and something about being out in the middle of the night on an “adventure” made me feel truly alive. This same drive is what made me do a lot of brave things in my life. Just saying.


NP. 🙄 You can be brave and adventurous without doing things like sneaking out. Most kids don’t do this. I’m sorry OP is dealing with this, and I agree with others about trying to find the root cause.

Honestly the only way to prevent is no sleepovers (they always sleep over the parents that have laxed rules or the kid that can steal the car at night, even without a license.)

And middle of the night bed checks

Teens can get around any other thing if they want to.

And don’t think they only sneak out on weekends. There are plenty of kids with single parents that work 3rd shift.
