Western society is full of prejudices that continue to benefit wealthy white men over all others, as has been true for centuries.
And the cool trick is that wealthy white men mostly manage to deflect this fundamental truth by pitting marginalized people against one another. So women are taught to fear black men (and view white men as protection). People of color view white women as "Karens" (a term white men have co-opted and LOVE to use, if you're paying attention). Middle and working class people are taught to blame poor people for everything so they never think to consider how the wealthy have structured the rules to benefit only themselves. And so on.
This is why there is a lot of power in marginalized groups banding together to help, defend, and promote one another.
White men are the enemy.
*cisgender* white men are the enemy.

Everyone needs to be taught to see the world through the correct lens. There are only two cohorts:
the oppressors and the oppressed:

IDK.. I mean.. half the world doesn't tell a woman what she can do with her body, unlike the south.

Yes, one in which men die on the job at 10x the rate of women; one in which men commit suicide 4x the rate of women; one in which men are incarcerated at a rate 8x that of women; and one in which women outnumber men 60-40% at universitiies.
Those men and their evil plans for male world domination sure are working out well!
Men are incarcerated at a higher rate because they commit far more crime than women.
Men die by firearm suicides at a higher rate - because they choose the most lethal method. Women intentionally overdose at higher rates, which is more likely to land them in the hospital.
Men choose jobs that are riskier and take more risks on those jobs that lead to injury and death.

Anonymous wrote:We were staying in a hotel in South Carolina on NYE. The next morning at breakfast, I used a coffee cup to make tea and the attendant came over and sharply fussed at me that I was doing it wrong. Everyone was quiet and watched, so I just apologized and moved on.
A few minutes later, a man went over and did exactly what I had done and the attendant told him “oh sir, you can’t do it that way.” He argued with her and she was always polite.
It’s so unfair how men are treated so much better, and I fine this especially true in the south.

Someone using one weird, dumb story to make such sweeping generalizations sounds pretty uneducated, too.
Exactly.
As a woman in the south, I can assure you that we have it pretty damned good.
