I will be at Frumin's meeting next week, and I hope everyone who cares about our city will be there. Frumin was very late to the game in terms of public safety. I think he now sees that we're in a crisis situation, but I want to hear concrete steps he is taking to address the problems. No more hand-wringing or kind words to pacify people. I note, for instance, that Frumin has yet to endorse the crime bills the Mayor and Brooke Pinto have introduced. Yes, it is a pain to give up time to go to a meeting or write an email to elected officials, but it's time well spent if you care about this city.

They want to give everyone vouchers, get rid of the police, applaud failing schools, and build more and more ugly, dense housing to essentially ruin the remaining nice neighborhoods in the city, even as so many are fleeing. They have no concept of investment or law and order. Anyway, my suggestion is to fight for your city. It has been a wonderful place to live and raise my children, and it can be that again.

Well put. Will you be at Frumins upcoming safety meeting?

Why are you living in DC?

Many want to leave but are stuck by:

1. Cheap mortgage.
2. Not wanting to pull kids out of school.

We’re done in two years and can’t wait to get out of this place.

Similar situation, it we are moving to NOVA anyway, while trying to find jobs in a more sane part of the US outside the DMV.

Wake up. Home prices in DC proper are DOWN. And if you back out the multimillion dollar international level properties the numbers are really bad other than a few “safe” neighborhoods.

NP but really? Every flip in my neighborhood is going for prices that are way too high to live in my neighborhood. But they are taking longer to sell.

“The only jurisdiction that did not see home prices rise in December was DC proper (-4%).”

Look, it could be because actual selling prices are dropping, but DC's prices could easily be due to the mix of properties selling in December. In other words, if there are more studio and 1BR condos in the mix vs. SFHs, the median price will drop even though perhaps each of those properties sold for "more" than they theoretically may have received a year ago.

You need to see price changes by property type.

Nope. Wake up people. The socialists that are running DC have put your lives AND your finances at risk.

Not so. This home was only listed a few days and got an offer for $60k over asking. YMMV
