Hey moron, do some basic math. You are probably a lawyer, a business degree major, or some other flimsy liberal arts degree major who must at math.
Imagine an 8500+ lbs Rivian accidentally running a stop sign at 25 mph and hitting a small kid crossing the street. Now compare that same incident to someone driving a 3250 lbs Honda Accord. The Rivian has a gargantuan 2.61x more mass than the Honda Accord.
Let me spell it out for you in simple terms: to transfer the same amount of momentum into a child as the Rivian going 25 mph, the Honda Accord would have to be traveling at 65+ mph in the neighborhood!
How many people would be outraged at a car traveling 65 mph through their neighborhood streets where their kids play? Quite ironic that's outrageous yet the Honda Accord going 65 mph in a neighborhood has the same momentum as a fat Rivian going only 25 mph.
These cars are ridiculously sized and an extreme danger. The worst part is they Rivian owners pay $0 in taxes to maintain our roads yet they do the most damage to them per driver becise of their extreme mass. At least with stupidly sized ICE SUVs They require more gas so end up getting taxed more. They contribute proportionally to the amount of damage they inflict on roads. Rivian owners are freeloading deadbeats, and they're dangerous for everyone else around them.

Just another really dumb oversized SUV/truck that Americans are addicted to and that are terrible for road and pedestrian safety.
We need to be canceling these behemoth monstrosities and building much smaller cars that are safer for everyone on the road and walking in the street. Plus, smaller cars are better fir the environment.
It’s not that big.
Are you stupid?
The Rivian R1T has a height over 73+" and is over 217" in length.
It is a gargantuan 8500+ lbs.
Contrast that to say the Honda Odyssey which has a height of 69.6" and a total length of 205.2".
An Odyssey has a weight that is almost HALF of the Rivian, coming in at only 4482 lbs.
Nothing screams "I'm an entitled, moronic db@g that gives zero Fs about anyone else" like a rivian. They are an extreme danger to everyone else on the roads and in public just like all of the other stupidly sized cars Americans are addicted to. The govt should be taxing the crap out of behemoths like the Rivian that weigh that much and would have an insane momentum in a crash. The rivian weighs even more than a really stupid vehicle like the Cadillac Escalade, lol. It is extremely dangerous for everyone else on the road.
All EVs are heavy.
It’s not that big compared to the large SUVs.
You should find a new outlet to channel your rage.

Tesla has the supercharger network and competitive prices.
Established automakers have reliability reputations, service infrastructure, and can offer competitive prices on EVs.
Why buy a Rivian? There are just so many options.

So much hate and misinformation on this thread. Sorry you all can’t afford them.

The R1S also has a curb weight over 8500 lbs!
It is a gargantuan behemoth terrible for our roads with that much weight. Rivian owners get all of the benefits from driving on our roads yet avoid paying gas taxes even though they drive monstrously heavy cars that weigh more than a suburban. With that much mass, rivian drivers are an insane danger to everyone on the road aound them. Imagine how much damage a Rivian owner can inflict on property and flesh if they're traveling only 50 mph in a 8500 lbs monster. They'd annihilate a family riding in a 3239 lb Honda Accord.
They need to close the stupid loopholes for light trucks and start taxing and regulating stupidly heavy cars like rivians as mini semi-trucks / heavy trucks that require appropriate class drivers licenses and taxation.
Batteries are heavy. It’s not that big size-wise.
