I’m from that area and I disagree completely. Ithaca is a solid choice and quite popular.

People on this board are obsessed with weather!
Ithaca is a great school for kids who want to work in NYC or Boston where there are plenty of alums. It’s a hipper student body than, say, Elon. It’s a very solid college town. The weather is awful and yes it’s not close to a major airport. But it’s very much worth a look for the right kid.

I graduated in ‘95 and loved it. Great music scene; went to Cornell often for events, concerts; did a lot of hiking in gorges right from campus.
