Future employers won’t hold a B+ against him but they may count that TikTok video against him!

ONE grade in ONE semester in ONE class is not going to make a difference. Stop fighting your adult son's fight! Stop being so dramatic.

My 6th grader had this exact same complaint. He saw his grade on the website as a 92 and got a B+ in his report card.

Tell your grown adult son that a B+ will not ruin his life. Look at the actual feedback he got and figure out what he can do better next time. Then, move on.

Same advice I gave my 6th grader, but it’s not too late.

Why would you post about your bad grade on Tik tok?

89.55% is a bad grade?

Why would one post anything to Tik Tok?

And who really cares about college grades, anyway, as long as they aren't terrible?

My son was the perennial 89.4 kid too until he decided that he wanted to get recruited for his sport at an elite university. Now he's bumped up about 3 percentage points in each class and has kept his grades there for a year.

I do think the 89.5 thing is not accidental when kids get it routinely. There is some subconscious psychology or work ethic thing going on that keeps some smart kids doing "almost enough."

That doesn't even make sense. A 90.4 rounds down to a 90.

No, I’m a 30-year prof & I round up too. The people who think there is a significant difference between 89.5 & 90 are the same sort of too-trusting-in-statistics twits who think a college US News ranks #15 is necessarily appreciably better than one ranked #20.

It kind of depends on the distribution of grades, right? There has to be some line. Ideally, there is a clear break in the grade distribution, but if there isn't, there is always going to be one student who is less than a half point from getting a higher grade.

So? Do you think you’re DC should get the same credit as someone who got a 96? Should someone who got an 84 get the same credit as your DC. Land the helicopter. This is a good learning opportunity that doing little things better matters. A B+ is not a life altering event.

DS did not want an A-, so he studied, went to class, reviewed. I think that's how it works.

CS major.

Some teachers are harder than others. Some managers are harsher than others. As an adult, you have to learn to navigate it.

I would expect that the grade should be rounded up, but I think it's ridiculous that he's taken to social media, and you the parent are getting involved.

Why are you posting this for your son? Back off. He’s in college.
