Remember the attendance plan that was promised in March, then May, then August?

But the budget? That’s the biggest deadline of all. And then Cram lies about it to the press? I’ve been following budgets for years and they always release the full document that night of the release or maybe the following day.

I've never seen someone in communications so terrible at their job.

Cram has the hand he is dealt, but the superintendent. It's not communications that is so bad, it's the leadership above communications that isn't able to make timely decisions or meet deadlines.

The budget is always released the same day as tge pesentation.

Not according to Chris Cram. He said 3-7 days is typical. They really want to bury this document.

He lied. The budget always comes out the day of the presentation.

Why can’t they just be honest and say while we hoped to unveil the full document on 12/14, we first and foremost wanted the published budget to be polished, accurate, and checked and we needed to make some final corrections to ensure it was reviewed and corrected before submitting to the public. We regret the delay and look forward to future feedback sessions.

They make everything worse by hiding and obfuscating.

A statement like that would be perfect. PCMC would still get mad and probably bring it up for the next decade but most normal people would see that and think "yeah, that makes sense." But their refusal to say why it isn't released, then to tell the press a lie is bizarre. It's like that joke - how can you tell so and so is lying? His lips are moving.

Will they set their out of office messages before posting it or immediately after? It’s hard to see this publication schedule as having any purpose other than letting MCPS’s own spin sit out there unchallenged for a few extra weeks.

They're actually great at their job. You just don't realize that their job is to communicate how and when the central office leadership wants them to which is unclearly and rarely.
