The veil of silence is truly scary. My heart aches for this family. The school has not informed the parents.

Worse than Pineda impossibly . But he’s not great. He’s definitely not Principal material. You hit it in the nail with “poor work ethics” and he tries to fly under the radar without really accomplishing anything. DCPS better steps it up with their search. I can totally see them trying to just leave Meliotis there and be done with it.

How many are "many"? The few outspoken English dominant ones? What type of special accommodation you demanded for your special one that was not attended?


Is this PP so ignorant that they believe legally mandated accommodations (like 504 and IEP accommodations) are somehow optional? If so, they know nothing about education and should STFU.


I'm not the original PP but surprisingly the major complain my sons have is precisely when they are mixed in classrooms with those getting these mandated accommodations... Clearly this is a "cost" they have to share given the multiple interruptions during class aggravated by the absence of extra personal to take care of these cases. We never complain btw

He was good at not passing anyone off (unlike Pineda). He was liked by most. Maybe not too proactive/efficient he’d working as I would have liked but not awful. Not sure how he was able to come in, he was asked. It was a good choice for interim. I don’t know why he wasn’t chosen in the first place. He lacks experience IMHO but he would have been better than Pineda.

I’m an IB parent with two OA lifers who started in PK (one graduated, the other is a current student). I’ve been involved with the school since before Mayra arrived (when Monica was principal). In other words, I guarantee I’m far more knowledgeable about OA, and the parent and teacher community, than you.

Pineda quit—he wasn’t pushed out by a “parent junta.” He quit with no notice, which is just one of many ways he has displayed his lack of professionalism and care for OA students. He was also a terrible principal, who was widely disliked by parents and teachers (I’ve personally spoken to at least 5 teachers with real grievances against Pineda).

I’m happy that he is gone. You seem very unhappy at OA, so you are more than welcome to leave too.

Im an OA parent with two kids who have been through or going through Adams. From my vantage point, it seemsxlike he was pushed out by a parent junta. Staff Ive spoken to (not teachers) seemed very sad. He was warm and kind. I have issues with teachers— many are terrible, though a few have bern gems. Instruction isn’t strong across the board. Bullying is an issue, and I mostly blamed entitled parents who raise their kids as brats.
