Have to agree. Airports and planes are packed with people and 99% aren't masking. People seem to think they get covid from flights rather than family right before the trip. Or elsewhere.

No the only place where the air is not recycled is at altitude. There the air is brought in new from the outside, filtered and pumped into the cabin. This cycle occurs every two minutes.

Common misconception that air on airplanes is entirely recycled. At least half of it is outside air and all of it is circulated through HEPA filters on most planes now. If it was purely recycled there wouldn't been any actual oxygen left in at some point...

Just came back from a trip to Middle East last month. Didn't really see any people masking on planes...just a few here and there.

That being said I got COVID at the end of our trip and started getting my first signs of a bit of a sore throat towards the end of my flight, so was definitely unknowingly contagious during the flight. Luckily was only sitting next to my dad, who I'm pretty sure gave me COVID, and air flow in airplanes is mostly ceiling to floor (laminar flow style) as opposed to front to back (and was on a Dreamliner with much better air circulation), so hopefully didn't get anyone else sick.

At this point, if they are wearing a mask, they are either physically ill or mentally ill. It is crazy. i was a huge masker for about 2 years (well, avoided the planes completely for a year first). But right now you are certifiable if you are wearing them while travelling if you don't wear them anywhere else.

I guess I am certifiable. We head out on Saturday for a much anticipated vacation. I have been super cautious, though not masking, and if there are coughers and sneezers around me, I will be masking. Because I want to enjoy my well-earned two week vacation.

Ive flown a few times internationally (not within US) recently and there are always some people masking.

I always used to get sick after air travel but since masking I havent. I hate wearing the mask but I actually find it works for me so I will continue to wear for air travel.

You don’t have to…but I would.

Got COVID on my must recent European vacation. It is not fun (and they are really not set up for it there).

Use the $4 mask, to protect your expensive and probably much anticipated vacation.
