I would be more persuaded that SNL is in decline of someone could point to an episode that was clunker-free.

Jane Curtain was on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me and said that she tried to watch an episode from the first season and couldn't because it was so painfully unfunny

I dunno. I'm 56 and think this year has been the best in a while.

I love watching SNL, but admit the cold open was really boring 🥱 too.

Most of them are really funny - this particular one just didn’t jibe.

I loved Adam Driver’s Career Day sketch, it is in my Top Three fave sketches from the show.
How Adam never broke character illustrates what a fantastic actor he truly is!

Overall last week’s show was excellent despite not seeing “Please Don’t Destroy.”
Even though their movie was silly >> I still think they are a hilarious trio + add great comedic content each wk!

Bowen is a comedic master….genius.
I love him as George Santos most especially!
He also did an epic performance as both the Titanic’s Iceberg as well as the Chinese Balloon! 🤣🤣🤣

The show jumped the shark when Pete Davidson left as he had promise as a future rising star alum.
I also miss Aidy, Kate, Kyle, Chris Redd, Beckett, Cicely & Leslie.

But the new talent looks very promising and they are all hysterical.
And Colin and Michael never disappoint on Weekend Update.

Kenan is a wonderful staple on the show.
While Adam as the baby on the airplane was a little squeamish to watch - along w/the tiny purse skit, the rest of the skits were solid comedy.

Adam and Bowen as a gay couple had me laughing out loud the entire time and Mikey Day is comedic gold!

The skit continues to prompt criticism. If advertisers pull money from NBC, heads will roll.

There’s an article saying Cecily Strong had rehearsed the part of Stefanik but pulled out.

DH and I watch with our teens every Sunday on streaming.

There’s always unfunny skits and most times funny skits. I was dying at last night’s “tiny ass bag” skit. I’m not sure why they saved it for last. My whole family really enjoyed that one.

There’s always a few good bits on weekend update, and the Gen X in me absolutely died when Julia styles appeared for the Save the Last Dance skit. That was genius and everyone loves when celebs can laugh at themselves.

My teens enjoyed Olivia Rodrigo.

From Chapelle to Seinfeld, real comics have been lamenting the death of funny for a while.

Very few people are watching SNL live on NBC from 11:30 to 12:30 on a Saturday night.

The money comes from the sketches that go viral. I just looked up Adam Driver and SNL. His Career Day sketch from a few years ago has more than 20 million views. And SNL will have hundreds if not thousands of sketches and bands all generating advertising dollars. I suspect SNL is more profitable now than it ever has been. Anything even remotely funny gets blasted on social media. I'm sure there are cumulatively a lot more eyeballs on SNL material now than in 1988.
