Barcelona has so many interesting things to see like Sagrada Familia and all the Gaudi architecture! Plus the vibe of that brilliant, vibrant city. Should never be missed. It’s amazing.

If you want to go to Granada for the Alhambra, be sure to book tickets in advance. It does sell out.

Also if you go to Granada, let me encourage you to check out the Cuevas de Sacromonte museum. It's really cool. Definitely take a taxi or bus to get there, though, because it's an absolute hike to get to the museum itself: https://sacromontegranada.com/en/

I loved Barcelona. Much more fun than Granada. Also, you can easily fly there, so it's simply not impossible to add a day or two there on to a trip.

Spain is such a huge country. You can’t define it or see everything by visiting just once.

I agree with this. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, although I had a nice time while I was there.

I'd either go to the north of Spain, or the very south. The trains are fantastic, so you could fly into Madrid and then get the train to the south.

Where in the south do you recommend? We want to tack several days in a nice beach location onto the end of a trip to elsewhere in Spain.

I’ve heard Malaga is nice

We went this summer and this was my favorite place to visit. Absolutely beautiful.

We went about 12 years ago, just pre-kids. I completely loved Seville. I enjoyed all the Gaudi in Barcelona, but it rained the whole time and my husband was kind of miserable. We were not big fans of Madrid (much to my surprise) and I wanted to go to Granada, but we couldn’t fit in. I think we took trains between the cities - it was a long time ago.

Same here. I’m not a Barcelona fan but I love Madrid.

Did you rent a car?

Also did you stay in a rental or hotel, mind sharing which properties if hotel?

NP and we also just returned from a November trip through Andalusia. We spent a couple nights in Madrid (saw Real Madrid play at the Bernabeu) then took a train to Sevilla. Stayed at Hotel Gravina 51 in Sevilla- loved it. Then rented a nice SUV at the train station in Sevilla to drive to Cordoba (stayed at Hotel Balcon de Cordoba) then on to Antequrrea and Ronda (Hotel Catalonia Ronda). We skipped Grenada. Drove back to Sevilla, returned the rental car and spent a couple more days before catching the train back up to Madrid and saw Atletico Madrid play at the Wanda Metropolitano.

I like Hotel Amadeus in Sevilla. Tip for hotels in Sevilla: book exterior rooms (interior ones literally may look into the internal patio so it's not very private or well-ventilated) and ask for an upper floor since ground floor exterior rooms will have unbreakable bars on the windows and you will get a lot of noise from cars/motos zipping past, people walking past at night talking loudly, etc.

Grenada is in the Caribbean. Probably good that you skipped it.
