I had to step away from all my kids in order not to cater to them when I tried to watch them from home. It's very stressful otherwise. After the first couple kids I got better at it but for me it was worth the $$ to be able to focus on work without feeling like a sh!t for not focusing on baby or work 100%.
FWIW I work from home and that doesn't mean I am able to watch the kids, even now that they are older. They are elementary aged now and there are days I throw snacks/games on the floor and hope all the kids get them before all the dogs.

Now if she worked outside the homeland had to work I could understand though I would still be sad that she's so tiny going to a daycare. But she's working from home!!! Curious if you agree?
"Sit home and work". You seem to think she's home playing on the computer. I work from home and am far busier than I would be in the office. You don't get it.

I wouldn’t put a 2mo in daycare unless it was an absolute last resort but I would never WFH while caring for a baby that age either.
Unless you are going to offer to pay for a nanny or extended maternity leave- zip it. And even then- zip it.

I am a working mom with a PhD living in Bethesda and I agree with OP. That baby should absolutely not be in daycare. The baby probably sleeps a lot so it WOH for a few months is probably doable with the baby there. It depends on the job, obviously.
How is your PhD relevant here?
PP wanted to demonstrate how she has a low level, low paid, non- stressful, low-priority academic job where she could actually “work” and take care of a newborn.
