In my day to day life I'm probably listening to Taylor more than Beyonce just because Bey's music isn't really my 'zen out and relax' kind of jam but like, why do they need to be in competition? They are two entirely different kinds of artists.

Why don't you take a cue from Taylor herself OP and lift up all female artists instead of trying to make it a competition and tear them down. Bey and Taylor are supporting each other by helping promote each other's films they aren't trying to eat at each other.

But truly dude, I've been listening to Beyonce bops since the 90s, Destiny's Child was a formative part of my musical life, saying Beyonce copies Taylor? She does not care about TS, just like she seems to not really care about anyone else. She did that pop star life and then made a crazy amount of money and now does only precisely what she wants to do the way she wants to do it, nothing more, nothing less. Beyonce answers to no one but Beyonce, and while I enjoyed her pop music a lot more than her current music, I have nothing but admiration for a woman who decided to do her thing unapologetically.

Concert films have existed for decades. That's not what people are talking about. Taylor film bypassed the studios. Her team produced it and made a direct deal with AMC Theaters rather than using a studio for distribution, thus retaining a higher percentage of the take. Beyonce's team did the same thing.

Yes and many other bands have done it. Whoever is saying Taylor stole the concept from "K pop" is deranged.

However, Taylor was the first to structure her business plan for the movie the way it was, and Beyonce copied that same model. Taylor is a real innovator in regards to business and money

Another win for Taylor. Beyonce's Rennaisance film only made $21 million domestically and $6 million internationally. Contrasted to Taylor who debuted with $126 million to $130 million globally

I started to approach this with serious answers, but I realized that anyone who thinks that 1) making a concert film is somehow “innovative “ and 2) Beyoncé “is copying Taylor” probably wouldn’t care.

Beyoncé and Taylor are two very different types of entertainers—who appeal to very different markets and audiences. Being “appropriate “ for younger listeners is only a plus if you believe that having a young, less sophisticated audience is a plus. I don’t, so, eh.
You give zero support, OP, for your next gush of assertions. You also don’t bother to define “classic “. Perhaps you’re young enough to assume that your personal views and tastes — however restricted— are somehow universal?

Anyway, if you’re up for it, listen to some Destiny’s Child. Check out Homecoming. And Lemonade. Maybe you’ll learn something— if you allow yourself to do so. Or maybe you just won’t get it. It’s cool. I don’t get Taylor’s music or her appeal, but I’m glad that she’s out there doing her thing, and I’m glad that her efforts reach a lot of people who find meaning and positive experiences from her decision to share her talents.

So I’d say Beyoncé. She actually has a VOICE. But I’m not fond enough of Taylor’s music to be able to do anything approaching a fair comparison.
